Downtown Trick or Treat

oooooo... It was a cold but that didn't keep this community from getting out there and enjoying the day! Thanks to all who came down... and to those businesses who handed out treats with a ghoulish smile!

October 27   1:00PM - 3:00PM

Dress up and head into Downtown Wilmington for a day of TREATS handed out by our local merchants!

Bags and maps may be picked up at the Murphy Theatre, Wilmington Public Library or For A Song & A Story . Businesses offering treats will have purple and orange balloons displayed. (In case you're wondering... there will be no other children activities downtown that day.)

We look forward to seeing you downtown on October 27!!!

"Cache a Ghost" at the Court House

This Halloween event is free and will involve about 2 miles of walking on sidewalks in HAUNTED downtown Wilmington, Ohio. It will start at 2:00 pm and end at the starting point. Prizes include SWAG from Garmin and other prizes donated by local businesses. Free parking is available.

The playing area will be about a six by six city block area, with the starting point near the center. The coords for each of the caches will be on cards at the starting point. You will draw a card for your starting coord so you will not all be starting at the same cache. Each cache will then have the coords for the next cache as well as directions to a supply of Halloween SWAG. One cache may have all spider rings, the next may have all pumpkins, etc. The final cache will have coords to the first cache so it is a circuit. Prizes will be awarded in order as you return to the starting point with your score card filled and the complete collection of SWAG. Join us at Jen’s Deli afterwards.

Murphy Movie: Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory

National Bank and Trust Presents:
Strange Brew

In co-operation with "The Crave Candy & Nuts"

Promoted as a family musical by Paramount Pictures, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is more of a black comedy, perversely faithful to the spirit of Roald Dahl's original book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats: the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum), who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather (Jack Albertson). In the course of the tour, Willy Wonka punishes the four nastier children in various diabolical methods -- one kid is inflated and covered with blueberry dye, another ends up as a principal ingredient of the chocolate, and so on -- because these kids have violated the ethics of Wonka's factory. In the end, only Charlie and his grandfather are left. Ostensibly set in England, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was lensed in Germany (as revealed by the film's final overhead shot). - fandango.com
