Downtown Antiques Is Back!

Downtown Antiques is back in time for the holidays, with new treasures for shoppers.

Locally owned by Cliff and Charlotte Fahrer, Erma Bernard and Kat McKay, the shop offers a variety of items — from large antique furnishings to collectibles such as Hull pottery, Fostoria crystal, Fenton and slag glass.

Fostoria, a former Ohio company, shut its doors more than 20 years ago and is highly sought after by collectors.

In addition to home décor, the proprietors offer a potpourri of curiosities such as vintage clothing, historic tools, jewelry and much more.

“There’s really something for everyone,” said Charlotte
Fahrer. “There’s always someone on your Christmas list that’s hard to shop for and it is much easier to be able to do it in Wilmington rather than fighting the crowds at the mall. Plus, you get more unique items.”

“We’re very excited to be back,” said McKay. “I’m especially excited because this will be the first time I’ll be showing work that I normally reserve for contests, to sell to the public.”

A local artist, working mainly with photography, McKay has had the honor of having her photojournalism published across the United States and her artwork exhibited internationally. It was most recently seen in the Orville Room on “America’s Got Talent” TV show on NBC.

The shop will feature photos from her “hidden” archives, never before seen by the public, available in limited editions.

The owners are also happy to announce that other local artists have been invited to sell their work as well.

Located at 38 N. South St. in downtown Wilmington, Downtown Antiques will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

While the owners are happy to advise on the worth of items, they do not accept consignments. Contact 937-218-1390 with any questions.
